Information Solutions

Taxonomy design specialists

Are your employees spending more time looking for information than using it? Have you implemented an intranet and your employees still complain about not being able to find information? If so, then we can help.

We work with you to make it easy for your staff to gain access to information stored electronically across the organisation. This information may be located in document, records or content management systems, in work folders on file servers, or other databases. Typically access to this information is poorly designed and organised, and doesn't assist workers to quickly find the information they need to complete tasks. Using taxonomies and related classification techniques we design access paths to information that match user expectations and add value to their decision-making activities.

Our taxonomy and classification presentations and projects demonstrate our commitment to sound techniques and our expertise in delivering quality solutions for our clients.

Taxonomy design projects

Corporate intranet - information architecture
Information Solutions developed the information architecture for a large corporate intranet. The first stage of the intranet was launched in late December 2002 and it has been positively received by senior management and employees. Information Solutions developed the site navigation, conducted usability tests, and developed supporting style guides.

InnovationXchange web portal
Information Solutions conducted extensive research and requirements analysis to develop a 'taxonomy of innovation' for the InnovationXchange website. This provided input into the metadata model and the information architecture for the management and presentation of innovation resources. The metadata model complied with the Australian Government Locator Service (AGLS) standard.
